Frood Sachets Aim to Revolutionize Ready Meals with Dehydrated Vegetable Blend

Frida Redknapp, wife of footballer-turned-pundit Jamie Redknapp, has co-created Frood, a line of dried-food blends designed to offer a healthy and convenient meal option. Each sachet contains the equivalent of 560g of raw vegetables, along with grains, seeds, and plant proteins. When cooked with a chosen protein, oil, and water, the blend reportedly creates a fiber-rich dinner in under 20 minutes.

Manufactured in the UK, the ingredients in Frood sachets are dehydrated to preserve nutrients, flavor, and shelf life. The product is advertised as being free of ultra-processed foods (UPFs), with no added sugar, oil, or heat used in its preparation. The specific blend reviewed includes dehydrated tomatoes, peppers, spinach, carrots, onion, garlic, and celery root, seasoned with paprika, ground cumin, and cayenne.

Frood is positioned as a cost-effective cooking aid for busy individuals seeking to redefine convenience food. Redknapp aims to make meal preparation healthy and easy, eliminating the need to source, chop, and cook extra vegetables, grains, or seeds. Kristen Stavridis, a nutritionist and author, commented that Frood stands out in the ready-meal market, noting its high fiber content and diverse plant foods that can help consumers meet daily recommended intake goals.

Stavridis acknowledged that while fresh ingredients are generally superior, products like Frood can still offer health benefits. In a personal trial, a meal prepared with a Frood sachet, chicken breast, and rice took approximately 15 minutes. Adding extra peppers, onions, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika enhanced the flavor and texture. The resulting meal was described as fast, tasty, filling, and healthier than a typical ready meal.
