Ron Rallis, once a celebrated real estate developer in Greenville, South Carolina, has seen his public image dramatically altered by a series of legal battles and public disputes. What began as a private marital conflict escalated into a widely publicized feud involving accusations against U.S. Congressman William Timmons, ultimately leading to Rallis's divorce and a cascade of personal and legal challenges.

Rallis, 47, had cultivated an image of success, frequently posting idyllic family moments on Instagram from luxurious homes and exotic travels. His career in real estate saw him build a substantial portfolio, starting with flipping houses and expanding into commercial properties and self-storage developments.

Escalation of a Feud

The turning point in Rallis's public life appears to have occurred in 2023 when he was jailed for three months for contempt of court. This incarceration stemmed from a protracted legal dispute in which he accused Congressman William Timmons of having an affair with Rallis's then-wife, Paula Dhier. Rallis made increasingly lurid allegations against Timmons, which were never substantiated. Timmons, in turn, vehemently denied the claims, labeling them "absolutely false" and "gutter gossip."

Dhier had filed for divorce from Rallis amid allegations of infidelity, a claim she has not publicly addressed. The ensuing custody battle between Rallis and Dhier became a focal point, with Rallis alleging that the legal system was biased against him and favored powerful political figures. He expressed concern that the disputes were damaging his relationship with his daughter, Sterling.

A Pink Church and Public Spectacles

A bizarre incident in July 2023 brought Rallis further into the public eye. He purchased a former Baptist church in West Greenville and, overnight, had it painted bubblegum pink with the word "TRAP" emblazoned across the front. Rallis initially stated the stunt was to draw attention to "my issue" and later claimed he was fighting a corrupt family court system. The painted church became a peculiar landmark and a symbol of the dispute, but it later suffered damage from vandalism and fires before being demolished.

The neighborhood association president, Inez Morris, criticized the church's transformation as a "mockery" and expressed disappointment that the property was not developed for community benefit, suggesting it reflected a focus on profit over neighborhood improvement.

Legal Troubles Mount

As the custody battle progressed, Rallis faced mounting legal problems. His persistent social media posts about family court proceedings led to the contempt of court charge and subsequent jail time. He described his incarceration, spent among inmates accused of violent crimes, as psychologically devastating, recounting instances of profound despair.

Despite his legal troubles, Rallis continued to acquire property, including a $2.5 million waterfront home purchased during his incarceration.

Beyond the dispute with Timmons and Dhier, Rallis has faced other legal challenges. In August 2022, he was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon in New York after a Glock pistol was found in his vehicle; the charges were later reduced. In July 2025, he was accused of assault by his then-partner, Lillian Sykora, in California, which he denied, filing a counterclaim alleging he was the victim of abuse. Sykora has denied his counterclaims, and the case is ongoing.

More recently, in Folly Beach, South Carolina, Rallis was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and child endangerment after an incident where he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle while his daughter was present. Police reports indicated he appeared confused and disoriented at the time. In March of this year, he was charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct for allegedly punching a patron at a pizza restaurant.

New Ventures in Folly Beach

In June, a company controlled by Rallis purchased the Sand Dollar Social Club, a well-known Folly Beach establishment. Rallis has reportedly stated his intention to preserve the bar's character, a promise that will be weighed by locals as his involvement with the island community unfolds.
