Christina Salinas, a friend of Caroline Peña, is preparing to say a final goodbye to the 32-year-old mother of five who was allegedly stabbed to death last week. Salinas has vowed to fight for justice for Peña, who died from stab wounds that punctured her lungs.
Peña was allegedly attacked by Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, and Amaya Cookie Diaz, 19, along with a third individual, Kyandra Renee Faz, 21. According to a criminal complaint, Peña was stabbed twice in the back and once in the stomach. She was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to San Antonio, where she later died.
Salinas shared her grief online, posting about her impending arrival at Peña's memorial service in Del Rio, Texas. "Taking a deep breath and preparing my heart to see you one last time. Missing you is a heavy kind of love!" Salinas wrote. She expressed her honor in being chosen by Peña's family to deliver a reading at the service and promised to stay strong.
In another post, Salinas shared a photo of herself and Peña, stating, "I promise you that I’m not going to stop till we get justice." The note highlighted the profound impact Peña's death will have on her five children, with relatives noting that they will carry this loss for the rest of their lives.
The Diaz sisters were arrested approximately two hours after the alleged attack. Police have not yet released a motive for the incident, which remains under investigation. Del Rio Police Chief Frank Ramirez confirmed that Peña knew her accused killers.
