The French-American Foundation (FAF) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in parallel with America’s 250th anniversary of independence. To commemorate these milestones, the foundation has announced its 2026 class of 22 "Young Leaders," comprising emerging talent from both France and the United States.

Founded in 1976, the FAF aims to strengthen cross-Atlantic relations between the two nations. France served as a critical ally during the American Revolution, with figures like the Marquis de Lafayette playing a significant role. The United States later reciprocated this alliance, notably by entering World War I on the side of France, a moment encapsulated by Colonel Charles Stanton's declaration, "Lafayette, we are here!"

The Young Leaders Program involves a two-year term, during which participants attend two five-day seminars. One seminar is hosted in France, and the other in the United States. These programs are designed to facilitate learning from global experts, encourage brainstorming, provide cultural immersion, and build cross-border connections.

Many individuals selected for the Young Leaders program already hold executive positions in major companies. The 2026 seminar is scheduled to convene in Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence, in honor of both the FAF's 50th anniversary and the America 250 celebrations.

Notable alumni of the FAF's Young Leaders Program include three presidents: Bill Clinton of the United States, and Emmanuel Macron and Francois Hollande of France.

Ed Wallace, Chair of the U.S. board of the French-American Foundation, emphasized the program's role in maintaining the alliance. "The French-American Foundation Young Leaders Program brings together the best and the brightest from both countries to assure that our oldest alliance remains candid and vibrant," Wallace stated. He added, "FAF consistently picks winners. This year’s YL’s are all people to watch in the coming decade."
