French AI CEO Links Protests to 'Dead End of Socialism'
Brivael Le Pogam attributes widespread unrest, declining public services to decades of left-wing policies.
France is experiencing the "dead end of socialism" due to decades of left-wing policies that have led to declining public services and increasing unrest, according to Brivael Le Pogam, CEO and co-founder of artificial intelligence firm Argil AI.
Le Pogam described the current situation in France as "purely chaotic," attributing the widespread protests, some of which have devolved into looting and violence, to the consequences of socialist policies.
The demonstrations initially began with students expressing dissatisfaction with educational conditions but have since expanded across the nation. On a recent Saturday, thousands marched in Orléans against what they termed fascism, while other protests took place in the capital. Ahead of further demonstrations, French authorities announced the deployment of 70,000 police officers to prevent a recurrence of the previous weekend's destruction.
Le Pogam pointed to the healthcare system as an example of declining services, noting that despite universal coverage, some regions experience significant wait times for doctor appointments and medical procedures. "We are paying through taxes, through the salaries for that. But years by years, there is some zone in France where you need to wait, for example, one year to get a doctor," he said.
He also criticized the state's role in education and other public institutions, stating, "Basically like the education, everything touched by the states, it's just crumbled and becoming bad and bad year by year."
French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that the government intends to prohibit "illegitimate" protests and has accused "ultra-left groups" of fomenting the unrest with the goal of destabilizing the Republic.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on the situation, questioning whether the NFL should proceed with a scheduled game in Paris between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints. Trump suggested that the NFL could postpone the match due to the unrest, linking the situation to "left" policies and immigration.
Le Pogam further criticized the government's response, stating that it is the state's responsibility to protect citizens, and expressed concern over calls for individuals to protect themselves amidst the chaos.
