Freddy Brazier Reflects on 'Tough' Relationship With Grandmother Amid Cannabis Use

Freddy Brazier has described his relationship with his grandmother, Jackiey Budden, as "tough" mentally, particularly after it was revealed they smoked cannabis together. Brazier, 22, son of the late Jade Goody, stated that while he loves his nan and would do anything for her, their dynamic has been challenging.
Speaking on The Terry Stone Connection podcast, Brazier reflected on his mental health struggles, noting similarities with his grandmother. "The more mental health stuff I think I'm similar to nan than in that way," he said. He also finds it difficult when Budden compares him to his mother, Jade Goody. "When she says, 'oh Freddy is Jade with a penis,' I don't know whether to be hurt about it or to laugh."
Despite acknowledging his grandmother's influence, Brazier emphasized taking personal responsibility for his actions. "No one's to blame other than myself. I feel like I was always going to be troubled and be the brother that goes down the wrong path," he stated.
Brazier's relationship with Budden has been a source of conflict with his father, Jeff Brazier. Jeff had previously attempted legal measures to limit Freddy's contact with Jackiey, fearing she was a negative influence due to their shared cannabis use. Freddy has said his grandmother got him "hooked on weed" when he was 12 years old, a period he described as having been "definitely the person" who introduced him to the substance and led to his addiction.
He has spoken about a difficult journey that included rehab and being sectioned due to manic episodes. In August 2025, speaking on the A Load Of Old Cobblers podcast, Brazier reiterated that while his grandmother wasn't the first person he smoked with, she was instrumental in his addiction. He also claimed to have spent years fearing Budden would harm herself if he didn't prioritize their relationship amid her feud with his father.
In a TikTok video, Brazier expressed his realization that Budden had been lying to him for years. However, by December, they appeared to have reconciled in time for Christmas.
