Frankie Muniz's Cryptic Posts Linked to Racing Struggles and Divorce
The former child star expressed feeling overwhelmed and that things were falling apart, with sources citing career difficulties and personal turmoil.
Frankie Muniz has recently shared concerning social media posts, which sources close to the actor have revealed are related to challenges in his NASCAR racing career and his ongoing divorce from Paige Price.
Muniz, known for his role in "Malcolm in the Middle," took to Instagram to describe the past six weeks as a "nightmare" he wished he could wake up from. "Everything felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time," Muniz stated. "I wouldn’t wish this season on anyone."
A source told Page Six that Muniz has been facing difficulties in the truck series of his racing career. "He hasn’t done well in racing this year," the source said. "He’s struggling in the truck series, but he’s done well in another racing series. I think a lot is up in the air around his NASCAR career, which has always been his dream since he was a child."
His racing career began in 2004 as a celebrity contestant, progressing to professional open-wheel series from 2006 to 2009. Muniz returned to racing in 2021 and made his Craftsman Truck Series debut in 2025.
Adding to his personal stress, Muniz announced on July 1 that he and Price were separating after a decade together. The couple shares a 5-year-old son, Mauz.
The source indicated that the divorce has significantly contributed to the "rock bottom" feeling Muniz expressed. "He’s getting a divorce and he was trying to keep it cordial," the source shared. The demanding schedule involved traveling from Arizona to Concord for simulator sessions and shop work, often returning late at night before traveling for races. "I think it was all a lot for him and contributed to his marriage falling apart. He did a lot to try and make it work for her."
Following Muniz's post, Price shared her own cryptic message on social media regarding perspective. "Life is all about perspective. If you ask the grass, the zebra is the monster and the lion is the protector," she wrote.
Muniz and Price were married in February 2020, after becoming engaged in 2018.
Muniz's next scheduled event is the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.
