A luxury brownstone in Hoboken, New Jersey, once owned by Frank Sinatra's parents has been listed for sale at $3.95 million. The late 19th-century property at 909 Hudson Street underwent a year-long renovation and has been transformed into a luxury condominium while retaining some of its original architectural details.
Sinatra purchased the home in the 1940s for his parents, Marty and Dolly Sinatra. The 3,190-square-foot property now features nearly 12-foot ceilings, crown molding, and original paneling on the parlor level. Architectural elements like double doors separating rooms have been preserved, features described by listing agent Wes L. Page of Brown Harris Stevens as increasingly rare.
"It's refreshing to see a developer who doesn't overlook the home's history as an obstacle but more of an asset," Page stated. "In the Hoboken market these days, everything you're seeing is either ground-up new construction or gut renovating and leaving everything super, super modern. This is a very, very unique condo for Hoboken."
The kitchen has been updated with custom cabinetry, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, a quartz waterfall island, and a walk-in pantry.
The duplex layout includes three ensuite bedrooms on the second floor and a fourth bedroom on the garden level. This lower level can be integrated into the main home or used as a separate apartment.
A notable feature is a large mudroom, uncommon in condominiums, that opens to a private backyard suitable for outdoor dining.
The seller and developer purchased the brownstone for $3.65 million in 2022. The property is situated near Frank Sinatra Drive and transportation links to Manhattan. It is also located outside the flood zone.
Sinatra, who was born and raised in Hoboken, began his singing career locally before achieving international fame. He maintained ties to his hometown and would visit his parents at their home on Hudson Street.
The property is being converted into luxury condominiums, with the newly listed residence being the largest unit. Other apartments in the building include studio and one-bedroom units.
"What makes this residence so special is that it preserves the character and architectural integrity of a historic Hoboken brownstone while seamlessly incorporating the level of design, craftsmanship, and modern conveniences today's buyers expect," Page said. "Add to that its provenance as the home Frank Sinatra purchased for his parents, and you're offering not just a beautifully renovated residence, but a genuine piece of Hoboken history."
