Fox News Personalities Criticize NYC Mayor's Video on Immigrant Rights
Contestants on 'Hannity' questioned the legality and intent of Zohran Mamdani's Spanish-language explainer.
Fox News contributor Joe Concha expressed strong disapproval of a video released by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, which advised Spanish-speaking constituents on their constitutional rights when encountering U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
Mamdani's video, shared in Spanish, outlines how individuals can protect their rights, particularly regarding searches and detentions. He advised viewers to look for judicial warrants signed by a judge and stated that people can refuse entry if officers do not present a warrant. He also reminded viewers of their right to remain silent and to ask if they are free to leave.
Appearing on "Hannity," Concha, speaking to guest host Jason Chaffetz, questioned the legality of the video. "How is this not illegal?" Concha asked. "I mean, Mamdani literally is telling people how to break the law and avoid arrest from federal law enforcement."
Concha suggested Mamdani should be brought before Congress. He also proposed that reporters should ask Mamdani if he values the lives of legal residents over those in the country illegally.
Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) also criticized the video on X, formerly Twitter, reposting it and stating, "The Mayor of New York is openly helping illegal aliens evade @ICEgov and undermine the law. Radical Democrats are doing EVERYTHING in their power to recreate Biden’s open border disaster."
The video was released amid crackdowns under the Trump administration, aiming to inform individuals of their rights during interactions with immigration enforcement.
