Fox News issued a rare on-air correction this week after displaying a graphic that falsely suggested average gas prices in the United States were higher now than in 2025.
The graphic appeared on the "America Reports" program and was also shown on Fox Business Network on Monday. It compared current gas prices with those from the previous week and the same period a year prior.
The graphic stated current prices were $4.06 per gallon, but incorrectly reported prices from a year ago as $4.13. According to corrected reporting, the average price a year ago was approximately $3.14, a difference of about 90 cents.
On Tuesday, "America Reports" host Ed Lawrence addressed the inaccuracy, stating, "Yesterday, we aired a graphic that showed gas prices incorrectly last year were $4.13 a gallon; they were in fact $3.13 a gallon, that’s 90 cents more in the past year." He added that the Trump administration has indicated gas prices would decrease following the end of operations in Iran.
The correction was also broadcast on Fox Business Network.
