Fox Business anchor Jackie DeAngelis is suing Whole Foods, alleging she was permanently disfigured and suffered limited mobility after being bitten by a dog inside a Manhattan store in September 2023. The lawsuit, filed on August 20 in Manhattan Supreme Court, states the incident occurred at the Whole Foods located at 10 Columbus Circle.
According to the complaint, a dog bit DeAngelis on her left hand. By the time police arrived at the scene, the dog, described as a black pit bull, and its owner had reportedly left the premises. DeAngelis, 46, subsequently underwent hand surgery.
The financial correspondent blames Whole Foods, asserting that the dog was not a service animal and should not have been permitted inside the store. Whole Foods' policy prohibits regular pets but allows service animals in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. DeAngelis' suit claims the company "failed to reasonably enforce its own policies, practices and/or procedures concerning animals entering and remaining within the subject store."
DeAngelis is seeking unspecified damages to cover medical expenses and emotional distress resulting from the attack.
Before joining Fox Business Network in 2019, DeAngelis spent over a decade at CNBC, where she worked as the network's chief energy correspondent. She is also a breast cancer survivor and holds degrees from Cornell University and Rutgers School of Law.
