Four-Year-Old Critically Injured in Rugby Carnival Accident

A four-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a freak accident at the Prime Nines Tournament at Tugun Rugby League Club on the Gold Coast. Kaleia Mu'a was rushed to the hospital with a fractured skull, multiple brain bleeds, internal bleeding, and a broken leg. She remains in critical condition.

Her parents, Joe Mu'a and Amber Morton, are by her bedside, and a GoFundMe has been established to support the family. The fundraiser notes the unimaginable emotional toll and the financial strain of an extended hospital stay, including time away from work, travel, and living expenses, as well as the uncertainty of Kaleia's recovery and ongoing care.

"No family ever imagines that a day at the footy could end like this," the GoFundMe page states. "Right now, Amber and Joe's entire focus needs to be on Kaleia, her recovery and keeping their family together." The campaign urges the community to rally around the family, stating that "every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference."

"Funds raised will help ease the financial pressure on Amber and Joe so they can remain by Kaleia's side and focus on what matters most - their little girl," the page reads. "To our Gold Coast, Tigers and Tongan villages — now is the time to stand together. Let's show the Mu'a family that they do not have to face the days, weeks and months ahead alone."

The Prime Nines Tournament is organized by former State of Origin and Gold Coast Titan player Tyrone Peachey.
