Four Men Arrested in Alleged GP Surgery Car Park Rape
Police have arrested four men on suspicion of rape following an alleged assault on a woman in her 30s in the car park of a GP surgery.
Four men, aged between 19 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her 30s reported being sexually assaulted in a GP surgery car park. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the car park of the Great Western Surgery in Swindon, Wiltshire.
Wiltshire Police stated that officers quickly apprehended the four suspects—two aged 21, one aged 20, and one aged 19—in connection with the alleged attack. All four have since been interviewed by detectives and released on bail with conditions while the investigation continues.
The car park at the surgery in Farriers Close was cordoned off by police following the incident, leading to the temporary closure of the practice. Patients were redirected to other surgeries, and the Whalebridge Group, which operates the Great Western Surgery, informed patients of the disruption via phone calls and text messages.
Police have increased their presence in the area to reassure local residents and are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Farriers Close in the early hours of Tuesday. Detectives are also urging motorists and residents to check any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.
Detective Inspector Tom Straker acknowledged the concern within the community, stating, "We were able to rapidly locate and arrest four men... in connection with the investigation. We are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this. You may notice an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns, please do approach our officers."
