Relentless rain and flash flooding inundated parts of central Kentucky over the weekend, resulting in at least four deaths, Governor Andy Beshear announced Saturday.
Beshear declared a state of emergency as dangerous rainfall was expected to continue until 11 p.m. ET. "This is a serious flooding event, where teams have already had to conduct multiple water rescues from vehicles and homes across the commonwealth," he stated.
Three of the fatalities occurred in Madison County, and one was reported in Jackson County. According to the Madison County Coroner, two adults died at a residence in Richmond. A third death in the county involved an adult male who was swept away in his vehicle on Tates Creek Road.
