Fairfield police are actively investigating the disappearance of Chantel Brooks, a 36-year-old Bay Area woman last seen in July, and suspect foul play was involved. A spokesperson for the Fairfield Police Department stated that the investigation remains active as authorities work to locate Brooks and determine the circumstances of her disappearance.
Police have conducted multiple search warrants and coordinated ground and aerial drone searches in an effort to gather evidence. The specific reasons for the suspicion of foul play have not been disclosed.
Brooks was last seen in the parking lot of a CVS on Travis Boulevard in Fairfield shortly before 2 a.m. on July 17. Surveillance footage shows her leaving her job at the Le Nain Hotel shortly before 12:30 a.m. that same morning. She was reportedly heading home. At the time she was last seen, Brooks was wearing a multicolored brimmed hat, a red zip-up sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and brown furry boots.
Brooks' vehicle, a black 2021 Infiniti QX50 SUV with California License Plate 9SBB134, has not been located. Its license plate was registered by a Flock camera in Oakland. Her family has not heard from her since she was last seen.
Brooks' family raised the alarm after being unable to contact her for several days. Her brothers, Calvin and Kevin Robinson, used cellphone location data, but her phone was not pinging. The family has been distributing missing-person flyers throughout Fairfield and the wider Bay Area.
Brooks is described as a Black woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
