A former dedicated supporter of Donald Trump has shared how her allegiance to the former president dissolved after he reacted sharply to a reporter's question concerning the Jeffrey Epstein case. Trisha Hope, who was part of the "Front Row Joes," a group known for attending Trump's rallies, stated in an interview with Politico's "Playbook" podcast that a specific exchange during a July 2025 Cabinet meeting marked a turning point.
During the meeting, Trump interrupted then-Attorney General Pam Bondi when she was asked about Justice Department files related to Epstein. Trump's remark, "Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years," felt like "a dagger in my heart" to Hope. She described this moment as a revelation, saying, "It was like a light switch went on and a veil lifted, and I saw him for who he was, and I have not been able to unsee it since."
Hope, who had previously authored a book compiling Trump's early X (formerly Twitter) posts and defended him during his first impeachment, indicated that she has since changed her perspective on the former president. She also cited Trump's repeated assertions that the conflict in Iran was "over" as a source of frustration, calling such statements "lies" and expressing concern about the country's involvement, which a recent poll indicated is viewed negatively by a majority of Americans.
Hope stated that if Trump faces another impeachment, she would support it. She expressed disillusionment, believing Trump's primary concern was himself rather than the nation, contrary to her previous conviction that he was America's "last hope."
