Holly Adams, a former teacher at Angleton High School near Houston, was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges following an investigation into inappropriate relationships with students. The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office has charged Adams with one count of tampering with evidence and two counts of purchasing or furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The investigation was initiated approximately one year ago after a student alerted school staff about Adams' alleged relationship with a former student. According to reports, the student informed school officials that the former student had FaceTime-called him from Adams' home, where the bed was covered in nude photographs of her. An additional image reportedly showed Adams and the former student cuddling.

Adams is also alleged to have invited students to her home to perform chores and reportedly admitted to communicating with three members of the school's baseball team via Snapchat.

Gail Saltz, MD, Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, commented on the psychology often involved in such cases, noting that female teachers who engage in relationships with male students may rationalize their behavior as romantic or nurturing. "They are convincing themselves that what they are doing is having an intimate, romantic relationship that is benefiting the victim as well," Saltz explained. She added that the harm to male students is comparable to that experienced by female victims, stating, "It is easily as damaging in terms of, you've been abused by an adult. And that adult took advantage of your trust."

Adams was taken to the Brazoria County Detention Center and subsequently released on a $26,000 bond. A spokesperson for the Angleton Independent School District confirmed that Adams no longer works for the district. Fox News Digital has reached out to the sheriff's office for further comment.
