Daisy de la Hoya, who gained prominence as a star on VH1's "Rock of Love" and its spin-off "Daisy of Love" in the late 2000s, is currently seeking employment in the fast-food industry. The 42-year-old performer has shared on social media that she has applied for positions at McDonald's and Jack in the Box.
De la Hoya, originally from Colorado, first achieved widespread recognition in 2008 as a contestant on "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels." Her popularity led to her own series, "Daisy of Love," the following year. Following her reality television career, she attempted to establish herself as an actress and musician, but these efforts were reportedly hampered by substance abuse issues.
In a social media update this week, de la Hoya expressed her frustration with her job search, stating, "I just applied to McDonald's twice. Please do not tell me I am not trying to look for a job, Karen." She added, "The jobs just don't want me. I'm over doing my best damn work every day for them."
Fans have offered support online, with some sharing their own difficulties in the job market and others encouraging her to aim for better opportunities. One commenter noted, "Girl you got this! You can do better than McDonald's!"
Beyond her employment search, de la Hoya is also involved in other projects. She co-hosts a podcast called "Pink Cassette" and continues to work on her music. In June, she took on a role as a door-to-door canvasser for Doctors Without Borders and enrolled in summer school to advance her education.
During the peak of her fame in the late 2000s, de la Hoya was publicly linked to several musicians, including Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe, Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction, and C.C. DeVille of Poison. She was a regular on Hollywood red carpets during this period.
Reports in 2024 indicated that de la Hoya had been in a 12-step program and had participated in an intervention to enter a mental health treatment center. In August 2025, she announced on social media that she had completed an outpatient drug rehabilitation program.
"Rock of Love," which centered on Poison frontman Bret Michaels searching for a girlfriend among 25 female contestants, was a highly-rated VH1 series in the 2000s, with its first season finale drawing 5.4 million viewers. The show launched the careers of several reality television personalities.
