Former Rams lineman Rob Havenstein harvests large brown bear in Alaska
The Super Bowl champion shared images of his hunting trip on social media.
Rob Havenstein, a former offensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, has shared his recent success hunting a massive brown bear in Alaska. Havenstein, who retired from the NFL after 11 seasons, posted a series of photos on Instagram documenting his hunting expedition.
In his social media post, the 34-year-old Havenstein expressed his desire to embark on an adventurous experience outside his comfort zone after retiring. He stated that the Alaskan brown bear hunt provided that opportunity, with the primary goal of taking down a mature bear. Beyond the hunt itself, Havenstein noted the profound impact of appreciating the animals and their natural habitat, from snowy peaks to salmon-filled waters.
The images shared by Havenstein show the considerable size of the bear. Havenstein, who played right tackle at 6 feet 8 and 322 pounds during his NFL career, appeared significantly smaller in comparison to the animal.
Several of Havenstein's former teammates and fellow NFL players commented on his post, with current Rams defensive back Josh Wallace humorously writing, "If you see me with a bear, save the bear !!!"
Havenstein was selected by the Rams in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and spent his entire career with the team. He was a Super Bowl champion with the Rams. Following his retirement announcement in February, LA head coach Sean McVay referred to Havenstein as "an all-time Ram" and a "legacy human being."
