Ryan Briggs, a former Royal Air Force medic with 23 years of service including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, has chosen a $300,000 cash prize over a 2026 Lamborghini Temerario valued at approximately $270,000. The win came from a competition organized by Elite Competitions, for which Briggs paid $4.28.

Briggs, 46, from Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, joined the NHS as a paramedic during the COVID-19 pandemic after his extensive military career. The financial award will allow him to pay off his mortgage and clear existing debts. He expressed that the winnings provide significant relief, stating, "It takes a lot of pressure off." He also noted the possibility of reducing his work hours in the future, citing the unpredictable nature of health.

Briggs's career in the RAF was inspired by his father, who fostered his interest in aviation through air show visits. He met his wife, Kelly, a logistics mover, when they were both serving in the RAF. They have been married for 27 years and are parents to two children.
