Rikki Hall, 33, a former constable with South Wales Police, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Thursday to face charges of raping and strangling a woman while on duty. He has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of intentional strangulation, which allegedly occurred in February 2024.

During the hearing, no formal pleas were entered. Hall also faces two charges of misconduct in public office. One of these allegations states he engaged in sexual activity with a member of the public while conducting welfare and safeguarding checks. He is also accused of arranging appointments with sex workers during his duty hours.

Further charges include a firearms offense related to the alleged possession of Pava spray without authorization. These allegations stem from an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC confirmed that Hall resigned from the police force during their investigation.

District Judge Lynne Matthews deemed the case serious enough to be transferred to the Crown Court. Hall was released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear next at Bristol Crown Court on September 28.
