A former police officer, Rikki Hall, 33, has been charged with raping and strangling a woman while on duty, according to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The charges also include possession of a firearm and two counts of misconduct in public office.

Hall is accused of attacking the woman in Swansea city centre in February 2024. He resigned from South Wales Police during the IOPC's investigation. The police watchdog confirmed that its investigation began in February 2024 following a mandatory conduct referral from South Wales Police. A substantial file of material was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2025, and following further inquiries, charges were authorized.

Hall is scheduled to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
