Hosts of the "Pod Save America" podcast, who are former aides to President Obama, recently discussed President Donald Trump's mortality in a segment that has drawn criticism. During the podcast, the hosts responded to a listener question about what could stop Trump, with suggestions including heart disease and "Father Time."

Co-host Jon Favreau read the question, "Is there anyone that can stop this orange piece of s---?!!!" He noted that this sentiment reflected the tenor of questions they receive. "Iran's doing a pretty good job. So far," replied co-host Tommy Vietor, a former Obama aide.

Favreau stated, "I think the answer is no." Vietor then added, "Heart disease has always got a shot. 'Father Time' will get there eventually." Another co-host, Jon Lovett, a former speechwriter for Obama and Hillary Clinton, commented on the physical toll of aging.

Former Trump administration official Theo Wold told Fox News Digital that the conversation was a "grim sign of the times" and that Democrats were becoming a "post-American political movement." He argued that public speculation on a president's death, even by natural causes, was once considered inappropriate and that this standard has eroded. Wold contrasted this with President Biden, stating Trump is "vigorous and in command of his office."

Morgan Murphy, a former Pentagon press secretary, criticized the hosts, stating, "Four men who once worked steps from the Oval Office sat around mics betting on which will claim the sitting President first — heart disease, 'Father Time,' or hardened veins — and not one of them had the decency to flinch." Murphy suggested that such remarks reflect a broader trend on the left, calling it "ghoulishness" rather than an isolated slip of the tongue.
