Former NFL Player Blames Madison Beer for Justin Herbert's Struggles

Former NFL safety T.J. Ward has publicly criticized Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert's relationship with singer Madison Beer, stating it is the reason for his poor start to the current NFL season. Ward, a Super Bowl champion during his time with the Denver Broncos, asserted on the Speakeasy podcast that Herbert's commitment to his craft has been compromised by his personal life.

The Chargers have lost their first two games of the season, both by a 26-14 scoreline, against the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders. Herbert, who became engaged to Beer in the offseason, has shown uncharacteristic struggles in these matches.

Ward suggested that the time Herbert dedicates to his relationship, especially with a famous partner, detracts from his football preparation. "When you get a girl, the little extra time you demand spending on your craft, she's demanding it," Ward said. "There's going to be a downfall coming. You're going to get worse." He further elaborated that Beer, if the relationship falters due to performance, might abandon him. "As soon as you start having a lack of success, Justin, this girl, Beer, she's using you, buddy. She's going to be out of there… Get back on your craft. She's ruining it."

Ward's comments have drawn criticism from some social media users and former players who argue that it is inappropriate to speculate on an athlete's personal life and relationships as a cause for on-field performance. Breidan Fehoko, a former Chargers teammate of Herbert, called Ward's remarks "lame" and stated that commentators should refrain from discussing personal matters, focusing instead on football analysis.

The Chargers will face the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks in their upcoming games as they attempt to improve their season record.
