Former Nanny Claims Kate Gosselin Abused Son Collin

A former nanny for the Gosselin family has come forward claiming she witnessed Kate Gosselin engage in abusive behavior toward her son, Collin. The nanny, identified only as Ashley H., told People magazine that Kate "very much outwardly treated Collin different[ly]," a sentiment that aligns with allegations made by Collin himself in his recent memoir.

Ashley, who worked for the family as a house cleaner and substitute nanny in her 20s, described Kate's interactions with Collin as marked by "specific hate." She alleged that Kate "grabbed Collin many, many times" and would "rip him right out of his chair in the kitchen." Ashley also recounted finding a large red plastic spoon, which the children told her was "the spoon mommy uses when she gets mad," an experience that contributed to her decision to leave the job.

Collin Gosselin, now 22, detailed his experiences in his memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood." He previously spoke to Page Six, alleging that his mother dragged him by the ear with such force that he attended school with a swollen ear. These accounts are part of what Collin describes as a "dark" and "violent" childhood.

Ashley stated she contacted Children and Youth Services for Berks County, Pennsylvania, after her employment ended, expressing concern over Kate's treatment of her children. She has chosen to speak out to support Collin's claims of psychological and physical abuse.

Kate Gosselin has publicly responded to the allegations, initially commenting on TikTok that "Rational, logical people or anyone who has dealt with mental illness, understands what’s going on here." She also reportedly "liked" comments suggesting Collin was being influenced by "dysfunctional and mentally ill people." In a later TikTok response, Kate asserted, "I know who I am and my kids know who I truly am and to me, that’s all that matters."

Collin's father, Jon Gosselin, has defended his son, stating that Collin is "not mentally ill" and asserting he has grounds to sue Kate for the alleged abuse of their children.

Ashley also shared details about the household environment, describing Kate's strict rules for staff and children. She claimed Kate maintained a "house manual" that prohibited staff from taking pictures of the children and insisted the house remain "un-lived-in at all times." Ashley alleged that toys were rarely out, and the children had limited clothing options to minimize laundry.

Page Six has reached out to representatives for Kate Gosselin and the Children and Youth Services for Berks County for comment.
