Pep Guardiola is set to return to Manchester City for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, marking his first visit to the Etihad Stadium since his departure over the summer. This appearance comes in the wake of the Premier League club being found guilty of numerous charges related to breaching financial rules.

Guardiola's presence, alongside the club's board and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, is seen as a demonstration of solidarity following the verdict. The club has denied the charges, which include inflating commercial revenues by approximately £830 million through alleged sham contracts with Abu Dhabi-based companies, and has lodged an appeal.

Prior to the decision to travel, sources close to Guardiola indicated uncertainty about his attendance. However, a firm decision was later made for him to be present at the match.

Manel Estiarte, Guardiola's long-time associate and a consultant for City Football Group, is also expected to attend the game. Guardiola himself publicly affirmed his support for Manchester City a day after the independent commission's verdict was announced. Potential sanctions for the club could range from title stripping and point deductions to fines or expulsion from the league.

"I want every single Manchester City fan across the world to know I am here; more than ever," Guardiola stated. "I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran (Soriano), the players, staff, Enzo (Maresca) and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."

Guardiola's decision to revisit the Etihad so soon after his exit is considered a significant gesture. He maintains a close relationship with Enzo Maresca, his former assistant during the club's Treble-winning season, and serves as a City ambassador.
