Former LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd was arrested in Miami on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly brandishing a knife during an argument on a bus.

According to the arrest report, Byrd, a college football standout, became involved in a heated exchange with another passenger. During the altercation, he allegedly pulled out a blade and asked, "Who wants to die?"

Byrd is being held on a $5,000 bond. Online records also indicate a warrant for his arrest related to domestic violence.

Byrd is widely remembered for his pivotal role in LSU's 2007 season, where he made a game-winning touchdown catch with one second remaining against Auburn. The Tigers went on to win the national championship that year. He was a highly regarded NFL prospect but his career was impacted by serious injuries sustained in a car accident shortly before the NFL draft. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers but never played in a game.

During his time with the LSU Tigers, Byrd played in 27 games, accumulating 72 receptions for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns.
