Sean Grayson, a former Sangamon County sheriff's deputy convicted of murdering Sonya Massey, has been denied early release by a prisoner review board. The decision came Friday, meaning Grayson will not be eligible for parole before completing his sentence.

Grayson was found guilty of shooting Massey in her Springfield, Illinois, home last year. The conviction followed a trial that began on Oct. 22, 2025, according to reports from the time.
