Former British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari married her partner Dami Amit in Tel Aviv on Thursday, marking a significant personal milestone after her release from Hamas captivity. Damari was held for more than 15 months after being kidnapped from her home in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
During the October 7 attack, Damari, 30, sustained injuries, including a gunshot wound to her leg and hand, resulting in the loss of two fingers. Her mother, Mandy, spoke at the wedding ceremony, reflecting on the 471 days her daughter endured captivity. "During those endless days and nights, there were moments when the thought of standing here tonight, seeing my daughter alive, safe, happy, and standing beside the person she loves, would have been impossible to imagine," she stated.
The couple met after Damari's release in 2025 and became engaged in January 2026. Their wedding celebration included several of Damari's fellow former hostages, such as Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, Liri Albag, Danielle Gilboa, Omer Shem Tov, and Keith and Aviva Siegal, alongside Gali and Ziv Berma.
The ceremony featured bespoke bridalwear by Israeli fashion designer Oria Azran. The couple exchanged vows under a Chuppah, followed by an intimate dinner for family and friends. "Tonight, I don't want to look back at the 471 days. I want to look forward to all the days ahead," Damari's mother added, expressing her joy for the couple's future.
