Former Home and Away Actor Unleashes Foul-Mouthed Tirade at Judge After Sentencing
Felix Dean, jailed for assault, verbally attacked the judge via video link before the connection was terminated.
A former Home and Away actor, Felix Dean, launched an expletive-laden tirade at a judge after being sentenced to 12 months in prison for assault. Dean, who appeared via video link, expressed his fury when Judge John Sfinas handed down the sentence for an assault involving a shop worker at a Sydney tobacconist.
"You know full well there's nothing on camera, so how is it a f***ing serious assault, I didn't even touch him," Dean yelled. He accused the judge of misrepresenting the facts and continued his verbal assault, calling Judge Sfinas a "putrid maggot judge" before court officers terminated the video connection.
The sentencing followed an incident on July 8, where Dean allegedly stole two protein shakes valued at $11 from a tobacconist. When confronted by an employee, Dean reportedly punched him twice. Nine days later, the employee spotted Dean outside the same shop and contacted police. Officers arrested Dean and found 0.56 grams of methamphetamine in his jacket.
Judge Sfinas described Dean's conduct as "egregious." The 12-month sentence was backdated to his arrest, with a minimum of seven months to be served before parole eligibility. He is scheduled for potential release on February 16.
Dean, who gained fame as VJ Patterson on Home and Away from 2007 to 2014, has publicly struggled with drug addiction and has a history of legal troubles. He was previously jailed in 2024 for drug driving after crashing his vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine.
Dean is the third former Home and Away actor to be imprisoned in recent years. Martin Peter Lynes, who played Adam Sharpe, was sentenced to five years for aggravated sexual assault in 2018. Orpheus Pledger, who portrayed Mason Morgan, was jailed for 12 months in September 2025 for breaching a court order and threatening to kill a woman he had previously assaulted.
