Former Feminist Says Ideology Failed Her After Three Abortions

Candy Thompson, an octogenarian who was once a proponent of feminism, has stated that the ideology ultimately "failed" her, leading her to re-embrace Christianity and question its impact on women's roles. Thompson shared her experience, including undergoing three abortions during her first marriage, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Thompson, who attended the University of North Carolina in the 1960s, described her initial attraction to feminism as a search for equality. However, she later felt the movement pitted women against men, motherhood, and even faith. "When it pitted us against God even … then that's what really led to what happened to me," Thompson said.

She recounted a miscarriage during her college years, after which she felt she deviated from her Christian upbringing. Following this, she entered her first marriage, which she described as ending in divorce. During that relationship, Thompson underwent three abortions, experiences she now acknowledges with certificates of life. "There were lots of effects like anger. I did not understand as a young woman what my actual created purpose was," she stated.

Thompson expressed a belief that feminism diminished traditional values have left younger generations feeling lost and yearning for relationships without trust. "They're wanting this in their spirits, but they don't know how to get it because nobody's telling them. These women are lost," she added.

Thompson's reflections suggest a personal re-evaluation of feminism's long-term effects and a return to her former faith, which she now feels provides clearer answers about a woman's purpose.
