Jennifer Courtemanche, a 47-year-old actress who previously appeared on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives," has pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit theft. The plea, entered in June, stems from accusations that she and a friend, Brittany Burgess, defrauded Courtemanche's wealthy ex-boyfriend, Gavin Maloof.

Maloof, a founding partner of the Golden Knights hockey team, reported the theft after discovering unauthorized Apple Cash payments transferred from his account to those of Courtemanche and Burgess. According to court documents, Courtemanche gained access to Maloof's cell phone through "ruse and/or deception and/or trickery and/or other fraudulent means" to facilitate the transfers.

Prosecutors stated that Courtemanche sent approximately $433,000 to herself via Apple Cash payments between 2021 and 2023. A criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney's office detailed 214 transactions, with 144 originating from a phone number linked to Burgess, who then forwarded the funds to Courtemanche. Burgess allegedly received nearly $12,000 through the scheme.

As part of her plea agreement, Courtemanche has agreed to pay $444,648 in restitution to Maloof. Her co-defendant, Burgess, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft and agreed to pay $11,652 in restitution. Chief Deputy District Attorney Austin Beaumont described the case as involving a "substantial financial loss" and stated that the agreement was "fair and appropriate" as the defendants accepted responsibility and committed to restitution.

Prosecutors indicated they would not oppose probation for Burgess. The pair faced multiple charges, including felony theft and conspiracy to launder money. The investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department, involved tracing text messages exchanged between Courtemanche and Burgess that appeared to lay out their plan. These messages, dating back to 2017, discussed a desire to escape financial struggles and achieve a desired lifestyle.

Courtemanche's acting credits include minor roles in television series such as "You," "The Vampire Diaries," "Two and a Half Men," "Gossip Girl," and "90210."

Courtemanche and Burgess are scheduled to be sentenced on October 20.
