Jonathan Gotschall, the former owner of Caroline's Cupcakes, who gained notoriety for accurately predicting LeBron James' 2014 return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, has resurfaced with a new free agency rumor. Gotschall, now a co-owner of POKÉ Fresh Ohio, claimed on social media that James is not only returning to Cleveland but also bringing his son, Bronny James, and Draymond Green.
"Hey guys. I’ve got it on good authority that not only is LeBron coming back to Cleveland, but he’s bringing Bronny and Draymond with him!" Gotschall wrote in a post. He referenced his previous accurate scoop, stating, "If you don’t believe me, you can Google ‘Caroline’s Cupcakes + LeBron’ to check my credentials. This ain’t my first rodeo. IYKYK."
Gotschall told The Post that the information is "still a rumor," but he has publicly shared it. Over a decade ago, Gotschall alerted the NBA world days before James officially announced his return to Cleveland after a four-year stint with the Miami Heat. On July 5, 2014, five days before the announcement, Gotschall posted on Facebook, "Just texting with a friend who is directly tied in with LeBron and his camp, and he swears on his life #TheReturn to Cleveland is a done deal."
The latest claim comes as James' future with the Los Angeles Lakers appears uncertain, with reports suggesting he plans to play elsewhere next season. A return to Cleveland would mark James' third tenure with the Cavaliers, the team that selected him first overall in the 2003 NBA draft and that he led to its first NBA championship in 2016. This potential Cavaliers roster would differ significantly from the one James rejoined in 2014, as the team is now reportedly built around Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen.
The inclusion of Bronny James and Draymond Green in the rumor adds further complexity. Bronny played alongside his father for the Lakers in the past two seasons, marking the first father-son pair to appear together in an NBA game. Green has spent his entire NBA career with the Golden State Warriors but has maintained a close relationship with James.
