Former Chicago Bears Star Otis Wilson Subdued by Security at Soldier Field

Otis Wilson, a prominent member of the 1985 Chicago Bears championship team, was reportedly subdued by stadium security at Soldier Field during Sunday's game against the New York Jets. The incident occurred near the press box, where witnesses say Wilson engaged in a physical altercation with a female security guard.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, multiple witnesses observed the 69-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer being restrained by several individuals. The witnesses, including at least one Sun-Times reporter, stated that Wilson was permitted to stand once the situation de-escalated. He was then placed in a wheelchair and taken away via elevator, appearing alert and without visible injuries.

A photograph taken by a witness showed a hole described as "softball-size" in a nearby wall. Reports indicate that Wilson had been informed he could use an elevator designated for media personnel, a common practice at NFL venues.

The Chicago Police Department has not released any official report concerning the incident. Representatives for the Chicago Bears have not yet provided a comment.

Career Highlights

Wilson, a Brooklyn native, played college football at Syracuse before transferring to Louisville. He was a first-round draft pick by the Bears in 1980 and enjoyed an impressive nine-year NFL career. His most celebrated season came in 1985, when the Bears finished with a 15-1 record and went on to win Super Bowl XX. In that game, Wilson recorded two sacks against the New England Patriots.

Post-Playing Career

Following his playing career, which concluded with a brief comeback attempt with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1989, Wilson has remained involved with the Bears organization. He currently runs The Otis Wilson Charitable Association, a nonprofit focused on providing health and fitness programs for at-risk youth.
