Tyson Macintosh, a former lifeguard featured on the reality television show 'Bondi Rescue,' has pleaded guilty to three charges, including driving with illegal drugs in his system and attempting to use a fraudulent prescription.
Macintosh, 29, entered his plea earlier this month in Sydney's Waverley Local Court. The court was scheduled to sentence him on Tuesday, but the case was adjourned for three weeks.
According to agreed facts presented by police, officers stopped Macintosh on Cuzco Road in South Coogee on April 30 after observing him lose traction on multiple turns. A subsequent saliva test indicated the presence of cocaine, methamphetamine, and the active ingredient in cannabis.
Officers also discovered Clonazepam tablets in Macintosh's possession. He claimed to have a prescription for the medication, which is used to treat anxiety.
Two days after his initial stop, Macintosh presented himself at Maroubra Police Station with a prescription for Valium, another benzodiazepine. Police did not return the medication. He returned two days later with a revised prescription, which was also e-mailed to the station. Police noted inconsistencies and a misspelling of Clonazepam as 'Klonazepam' on the document. The doctor listed on the prescription confirmed that Macintosh had never been prescribed the drug.
Macintosh pleaded guilty to possessing a restricted substance, driving with an illicit drug in his oral fluid, and using a false document to influence the exercise of public duty.
Macintosh worked as a lifeguard for Randwick Council at Maroubra Beach between 2017 and 2022, and for Waverley Council at Bondi Beach from 2020 to 2021. He appeared in four episodes of season 16 of 'Bondi Rescue' during his tenure at Bondi Beach. He has since stated his work experience includes roles in fitness, consulting, and recruitment.
