Alli Dore, a former cast member of Bravo's "Below Deck Sailing Yacht," has revealed the outcome of a recent surgical procedure to alter her waistline. The reality television personality underwent "rib recontouring" surgery in Bali, Indonesia, a procedure that aims to create a slimmer, more contoured torso.
Dore, who starred in the show's second season in 2021, discussed the surgery and its results in an interview with the Daily Mail. She was photographed at Vixen Media Group's 10th-anniversary celebration in Los Angeles, where she wore a revealing pink dress that highlighted her altered physique. Dore expressed satisfaction with the surgery, stating, "I'm so happy with my results." She added that she no longer feels "square-shaped" and questioned how she had previously managed with her former figure.
Despite her personal satisfaction, Dore acknowledged receiving a significant amount of negative feedback on social media regarding her decision. She described the comments as brutal and highlighted the prevalence of online criticism, noting that while she can handle it, it can be difficult for others. Dore mentioned that some users have accused her of having an eating disorder or body dysmorphia.
Medical Perspectives on Rib Recontouring
Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. Cat Begovic cautioned about the potential risks associated with rib recontouring procedures. Dr. Begovic explained that newer techniques involve making cuts in the lower ribs and fracturing them inward, rather than removing them entirely. Patients are required to wear a restrictive corset for an extended period to allow the bones to heal and reshape.
Dr. Begovic highlighted potential medical risks, including pneumothorax, which occurs when air enters the space around the lungs, causing them to collapse. Injury to the lungs themselves is also a possibility. Furthermore, she expressed concern about the lack of long-term studies on the health risks, which could include chronic pain, decreased lung function, or compromised protection of internal organs by the ribs.
Dore's History with Body Image
Dore has previously spoken about her struggles with body image and an eating disorder. In past social media posts, she reflected on prioritizing thinness for confidence and the difficulty of overcoming such mental health challenges. She also admitted to feeling insecure about her appearance on camera during her time on "Below Deck Sailing Yacht."
More recently, Dore stated that her focus has shifted to prioritizing her mental well-being through healthy eating and physical activity, rather than solely on weight loss. She described her body's changes since embracing this lifestyle as a journey in itself, emphasizing that being fit and nourished allows her to enjoy life more fully.
