Former 'American Idol' Contestant Caleb Flynn Cries as Gruesome Autopsy Photos of Wife Shown in Court
Jurors in Caleb Flynn's murder trial were presented with graphic details of his wife Ashley's injuries during testimony from the deputy coroner.
Former "American Idol" contestant Caleb Flynn became emotional in court on Monday as jurors were shown graphic autopsy photos of his slain wife, Ashley Flynn. During the murder trial, Montgomery County Deputy Coroner and Pathologist Dr. Bryan Casto described the images, detailing the extent of Ashley Flynn's injuries.
Casto testified that pre-autopsy photographs of Ashley Flynn’s body revealed "hair and brain matter and blood obscuring what was eventually determined to be two gunshot wounds to the back right side of the head." He further described a subsequent image, taken after the body was cleaned to confirm identity, which showed a "large open fracture of the frontal skull that’s the result of two bullets exiting the head."
The coroner also noted that the photograph depicted bruising around the victim's left eye and bone fragments protruding from her face. "Bullet re-entry" wounds were visible on her arms, according to Casto's testimony.
Flynn, along with individuals seated behind him in the courtroom, were observed stifling sobs and shaking their heads as the pathologist recounted the details of the autopsy photos, which were not displayed to the jury. The trial is ongoing.
