Former AFL Star Daniel Stewart Dies at 37

Former Australian Football League player Daniel Stewart died Friday at the age of 37 following an "unexpected medical episode," the gym he co-owned, Body Fit Training, announced.

Body Fit Training reportedly emailed members to inform them of Stewart's death. "It is with the deepest sadness that we share the sudden passing of our dearly loved owner and friend, Daniel Stewart (Snowy), after an unexpected medical episode yesterday," the email read, according to news.com.au. "Snowy is so deeply loved by all who knew him; an incredible husband, father, friend, business partner to Matty (Thomas), and a beloved part of the BFT community. Our hearts break for his family, for Matty, for his team who all have such close bonds with him, and for our community."

Stewart played for Port Adelaide from 2010 to 2013, appearing in 36 games and scoring 31 goals. The club confirmed his "sudden" death, noting that he was drafted in 2009. Port Adelaide plans to wear black armbands at its first home game in 2027 to honor his memory.

"Daniel was part of the Port Adelaide football family, and he always will be," Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson said in a statement. "A sudden passing like this is devastating and our thoughts are with everyone who loved him, and with the teammates, coaches and staff who shared the journey with him here at Alberton."

Matty Thomas, Stewart's Body Fit Training partner and a former AFL player himself, had recently posted a photo of the two working out, writing, "17 years of friendship. From teammates to business partners, to dads — and still each other’s biggest motivators."

Stewart's wife, Laura, also shared her grief on social media, stating, "Devastated to confirm the loss of our world. A heart too big for this world. We love you so much daddy."
