Former AFL Star Arrested, Allegedly Found With Child Pornography
Laurie Bellotti, a former West Coast Eagles player, faces child pornography charges after the alleged discovery during an arrest for unrelated offenses.
Former Australian Football League (AFL) player Laurie Bellotti, 50, has been remanded in custody after police allegedly discovered child pornography on his phone. The alleged discovery occurred during Bellotti's arrest in July on unrelated charges, including burglary and breaching a restraining order.
According to reports, police seized Bellotti's phone during the arrest and subsequently found four images depicting child nudity. Bellotti appeared in Perth Magistrates Court last week via video link from Hakea Prison, where he pleaded guilty to the burglary and restraining order breach charges.
He has not yet entered a plea for the child pornography charge. Bellotti has also pleaded guilty in Mandurah Magistrates Court to eight charges related to breaching a family violence restraining order. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated stalking and using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offense.
Bellotti played 24 games for the West Coast Eagles across the 1999 and 2000 seasons before being dropped from the team. He then played for West Perth in 2001 before moving to Karratha to play for the Karratha Falcons in the North Pilbara Football League.
