Razwan Amin, who established his barbershop after attending Erdington Academy, has initiated a program offering free haircuts to students. This initiative aims to provide support to families facing economic challenges, particularly during school holidays when additional expenses can arise.

Amin stated that he understands the financial strain on families during these periods, noting the absence of free school meals and the need to find affordable activities. He hopes his offer provides a measure of relief. Nicki Kansara, chair of Erdington Academy's Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) and a governor, highlighted the widespread impact of the cost of living crisis, affecting not only students eligible for pupil premium but many others as well. Kansara emphasized the inspirational aspect of Amin's connection to the school, suggesting he serves as a powerful role model demonstrating that former students can achieve success in their careers.

Esa, Kansara's son and a student at Erdington, has already utilized the free haircut service. He reported that many of his peers are also taking advantage of the offer. Esa described the positive impact of a haircut on his confidence, stating, "When I get my hair cut, I feel like a new man, and it makes me feel more confident in general." He added that Amin's journey from Erdington Academy to becoming a successful businessman is empowering, reinforcing the idea that success is attainable for current students.
