A semi-professional footballer has been sentenced to four years in prison for filming himself driving at speeds up to 191 mph on a motorway and posting the videos on social media. Conor Charlton, who plays for Nostell Miners Welfare, also received a four-year and seven-month driving ban.

West Yorkshire Police became aware of Charlton's dangerous driving after he shared a series of videos online in September 2023. One clip showed him traveling at 191 mph on a motorway in West Yorkshire. Another video captured him drifting his BMW X3M around a roundabout, narrowly avoiding a collision with a van. A third clip showed him weaving through traffic at 160 mph with the caption "wow."

Charlton was arrested in November 2023. An investigation into his vehicle revealed that it had recorded speeds exceeding 107 mph on eight separate occasions within a year. The inquiry also uncovered evidence of a scheme where other drivers were paid to take penalty points for Charlton's speeding offenses. Furthermore, a note on his phone detailed a fabricated story blaming another driver for a crash in September 2023.

Appearing at Leeds Crown Court, Charlton pleaded guilty to 10 counts of dangerous driving and four counts of perverting the course of justice. The court was also informed of Charlton's two previous convictions unrelated to driving, including a conviction for Actual Bodily Harm in 2019.
