The summer football transfer window, open until September 1, is proving to be a busy period for clubs aiming to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season. Several significant deals and pursuits have been reported across Europe.
Newcastle United has completed the £43 million signing of winger Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim. The Ivory Coast international was a reported target for Premier League rivals Brentford, who have themselves agreed to a £17 million deal with Burnley for winger Jaidon Anthony. This deal for Anthony includes an initial £15 million payment with an additional £2 million in add-ons, with the player expected to undergo a medical early next week.
West Ham United is reportedly preparing an ambitious move to sign midfielder James McAtee from Nottingham Forest. McAtee, who joined Forest for £30 million and was a former England U21 international, is seen as a potential replacement for Mateus Fernandes, who was sold to Tottenham for £85 million. Despite limited game time last season, McAtee is highly regarded at Forest, where the new head coach Oliver Glasner's system is expected to feature him alongside Morgan Gibbs-White. West Ham, however, is believed to have substantial funds available and is looking to test Forest's resolve.
Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin is set to join Fiorentina on an initial loan with an option for a permanent move. The Italian club has pursued the Romanian defender who is seeking more regular playing time amid Tottenham's recent acquisitions at center-back. The loan is expected to cost £1 million, with a view to a £15 million permanent transfer, and Tottenham will retain a 10% sell-on clause on any future profit.
In other transfer news, Italian side Como has shown interest in Chelsea defenders, initially enquiring about Tosin Adarabioyo before focusing on Trevoh Chalobah. While Adarabioyo is considered integral to manager Xabi Alonso's plans, Chelsea is reportedly willing to listen to offers around £35 million for Chalobah. Como has had a £21 million bid rejected and is considering another, while Inter Milan is also expected to make a move. Chelsea also continues to be interested in Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix.
