Floriston Fire Forces Freeway Closure, Evacuation Warnings Issued in California

The Floriston Fire ignited Wednesday morning nine miles northeast of Truckee, California, and rapidly expanded to 20 acres. The blaze prompted CalFire to issue an evacuation warning for area NCO-E379.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed at the Nevada state line, with no estimated time for reopening. CalFire stated that the fire is spreading rapidly and poses a threat to Interstate 80, the Truckee watershed, and surrounding natural resources.
