A Florida woman died Sunday after a 12-foot alligator attacked her while she was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River at Little Big Econ State Forest. Brittany Clark, 31, was in about three feet of water when the alligator lunged and clamped its jaws onto her.
Her boyfriend, identified as Chance Allison, attempted to intervene and fought off the alligator, managing to free one of Clark's arms. However, the alligator immediately attacked her other arm. 911 audio recordings captured Allison’s desperate efforts to control catastrophic blood loss on the riverbank, during which he reported that both of Clark's arms had been severed.
Wildlife officials later euthanized the alligator involved in the attack and removed its head as evidence. Clark's social media showed a fondness for outdoor activities.
