Florida Woman Filmed Attacking Couple in Road Rage Incident
A Florida woman is facing investigation after allegedly pepper-spraying and assaulting a couple during a road rage encounter in Miami-Dade.
A Florida woman was captured on video attacking a couple during a road rage incident in northwest Miami-Dade on Sunday night. The incident began when a car carrying several women started hurling insults at Felyz Rodriguez and Davin Lopez as they walked.
According to NBC, the confrontation escalated when the car pulled over and a barefoot woman, dressed in a bonnet and green shorts, emerged from the driver's seat. Video footage shows this woman lunging at Rodriguez, yanking her by the hair. Lopez stated that he was pepper-sprayed and pushed into a fence before the woman turned her attention to Rodriguez.
Witnesses filmed the assault, with one person calling 911 to report a woman in a car attempting to run over a man. The footage also shows the car reversing with its driver's side door still open, striking Rodriguez and knocking her to the ground.
By the time Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, the individuals involved in the assault had fled the scene. The couple sustained bruises, cuts, swelling, and effects from the pepper spray. Rodriguez, who is transgender, expressed confusion and distress over the motive for the attack, questioning whether it was a hate crime, personal, or random.
Lopez shared the incident on Facebook, describing the attackers as "completely random females" and expressing hope that they would be identified and held accountable for the emotional and physical damage caused. The couple indicated this was the third time they had been targeted and suggested the attack could be racially motivated or related to Rodriguez's gender identity.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office General Investigations Unit is currently investigating the incident. The couple stated their intention to press charges against the perpetrators.
