An alleged drunk driver crashed her vehicle into a parked car in Daytona Beach, Florida, on August 30, and then physically assaulted the owner of the damaged vehicle, according to police reports. Elizabeth Boucher, 24, is suspected of driving under the influence when she lost control of her Ford Bronco, driving through a roundabout before striking a parked Honda outside its owner's home.
Home security footage released by the Daytona Beach Police Department shows Boucher's Bronco colliding with the Honda, sending glass fragments into the air and pushing the sedan across the front lawn. Despite the impact, Boucher reportedly continued to accelerate, spinning her tires.
The owner of the parked car, who was not inside her vehicle at the time of the crash, was alerted by a neighbor and came outside. She reported that Boucher approached her aggressively, striking her. The owner then allegedly struck Boucher back, causing her to fall. Boucher is accused of then following the woman to her front door, where she was allegedly shoved again before police arrived.
Upon arrival, officers observed signs of intoxication in Boucher, including difficulty standing. She reportedly handed an officer her passport instead of her driver's license when asked. During interactions with law enforcement, Boucher is quoted as saying, "Please don’t take me to jail over this. I thought we were all friends." She also expressed confusion about being in a car crash, stating she thought she was only being pulled over.
When officers informed Boucher they suspected her of driving under the influence and intended to arrest her, she became uncooperative and refused to submit to sobriety tests, including a breathalyzer. She attempted to walk away before being handcuffed. Boucher claimed she needed to attend to her child's needs.
Boucher was subsequently charged with resisting arrest without violence, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, touch or strike, refusal to submit to DUI testing, DUI, and DUI damage of property. She was booked into Volusia County Corrections on August 30 and released on August 31. Boucher is scheduled to appear in court again on October 21.
