A Florida woman, Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, was arrested Monday night on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a friend with scissors during an Uber ride in Miami.
The incident occurred after the pair was picked up from the Best Western Plus Kendall Hotel & Suites. According to an arrest report, Zamora became irritated when the male victim told her she could not drink a beer in the vehicle. Despite being told multiple times that open containers of alcohol are prohibited by Uber's community guidelines, Zamora allegedly removed scissors from her purse and stabbed the victim once in his left bicep and left calf.
The Uber driver immediately pulled over, and both the driver and victim called 911. Police arrived on the scene and arrested Zamora. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Zamora was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. During a video court appearance on Wednesday, it was revealed that she was on probation for a previous battery conviction involving an elder, and had multiple prior convictions for assault, battery, and tampering with an electronic monitor. Her attorney's request to move her to a hospital was denied due to the existing probation violation.
A judge set Zamora's bond at $7,500. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 12.
