Florida Woman Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Boyfriend's Companion

A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder following an incident in Port St. John where she allegedly tracked her boyfriend to a late-night meeting and fired a shot into his vehicle, striking the other woman.

Katherine Dale Kelly, 24, of Cocoa, was taken into custody over the weekend. According to a police report, Kelly told investigators she was attempting to "make a point" after suspecting her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, of infidelity. She faces charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, firing a gun into a vehicle, and using a firearm while committing a felony, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday. Baker reportedly used Kelly's Volkswagen to pick up the victim, Angel Adenau, around 1:20 a.m. Kelly then allegedly used an Uber to locate Baker's whereabouts and traveled to the area. She then approached the passenger side of the vehicle and fired one round through the window, hitting Adenau in the left shoulder, Space Coast Daily reported.

Following the shooting, Baker transported Adenau to her residence, where emergency services were called. Adenau was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, Kelly claimed self-defense. However, text messages recovered from Baker's cellphone reportedly showed Kelly accusing him of cheating and threatening to shoot someone prior to the confrontation. Kelly's next court appearance is scheduled for November 24.
