Florida Woman Arrested for Alleged Threat to Shoot Trump at Rally

A Florida woman was arrested and charged with making written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device after allegedly posting on social media that she planned to shoot Donald Trump at a rally. Allison Jeanne Albro, 21, was taken into custody on Thursday, authorities announced.

Her arrest followed an Instagram post shared hours earlier, in which she allegedly stated her intention to attend a Trump rally scheduled for Friday night in Daytona Beach. "Going to the Trump rally in my city tmr so I can shoot him with my glock! wish me luck guys!!" Albro reportedly wrote over a selfie.

The FBI and U.S. Secret Service became aware of the post, flagged it for removal, and alerted the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to Albro's home, where she reportedly became tearful and claimed she was joking and did not possess a firearm. She stated she had deleted the post after her mother warned her of potential arrest.

According to an arrest affidavit, Albro told police she disliked Trump but had no intention of harming anyone and did not own a Glock. Investigators searched her residence but found no weapons or ammunition.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood announced the arrest Friday, stating, "We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president." He added that Albro was "learning that the hard way." He also shared screenshots of the social media post and Albro's mugshot, noting that she claimed the post was a joke.

Albro, who voter records indicate is a registered Republican, was booked into Volusia County Jail and is being held without bond. She appeared before a judge on Friday and remained in custody.

Authorities had increased security in the Daytona Beach area in anticipation of Trump's arrival for the rally. Trump landed in Daytona Beach aboard Air Force One on Friday, shortly before the midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.

During his speech at the rally, Trump briefly paused to address an issue with his eye, stating, "I’ve got something in my eye." He had previously cancelled two rallies in Kansas and Iowa over a weekend, fueling speculation about his health, though he maintained he felt well.

Trump has been the target of previous threats and attacks. In July 2024, he sustained an ear wound during a shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The gunman was killed by police. In a separate incident that September, Ryan Routh was arrested for having a rifle outside Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach and was later sentenced to life in prison.
