Florida Woman Arrested for Alleged Threat Against Trump Rally
A 21-year-old woman was charged with making written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device following a social media post.
A Daytona Beach woman, Allison Albro, 21, was arrested Thursday on charges of making written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device after allegedly posting on social media a threat to shoot President Trump at a rally in Florida. The threat was made the day before Trump was scheduled to hold a midterm campaign rally in Daytona Beach.
According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, Albro posted, "Going to the Trump rally in my city tmr so I can shoot him with my glock! Wish me luck, guys!" The post was accompanied by a selfie of Albro in clown makeup. The rally was scheduled to take place at the Ocean Center and featured Republican candidates including Rep. Bryon Donalds, Sen. Ashley Moody, and Rep. Randy Fine.
The sheriff's department's Domestic Security Unit, along with the Secret Service, investigated the post. Albro reportedly told investigators that the post was a joke and that she did not possess a Glock or any other firearms. Despite her claims, she was arrested and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
Sheriff Chitwood issued a statement on social media, advising others against making similar posts, even as a joke. He emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the Volusia Sheriff's Office, the Secret Service, the FBI, and other law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of the presidential visit and the community.
Albro is being held without bond. She faces charges for making written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device.
